My First Blog!

Welcome to my first blog post! I have been thinking about starting a food blog for the past five years or so and have finally plucked up the courage to do it! First things first, let me introduce myself. I’m Ellen, a 19 year old Food Science and Nutrition student at the University of Leeds and I have been obsessed with food for pretty much my entire life. It started with my love for eating it, then later on came a passion for cooking and now, here I am studying it (don’t worry- the love for eating and cooking it is still very much there!). There is something so special about food and its ability to bring people together from different backgrounds, as well as play such a large role in the expression of cultural identity. I have travelled to many countries and my main interest has always been to try the food, something that has drained my parents’ bank accounts over the years (sorry Mum and Dad). These food experiences include eating Saganaki by the Greek Coast, trying the famous Puglian orecchiette pasta while looking across the Ostuni nightline and then simply going back home for chilli night on Fridays courtesy of my Dad. These foods, despite being eaten in very different locations, are a few examples of dishes that I will cherish, because food can speak for itself. But the location you’re in can also have such a profound effect on your food experience as a whole. This is why in my blog I will be writing about both food and travel- from trying new restaurants, cooking different dishes and my experiences of food in different places and countries. Basically, if you’re a true foodie at heart, like myself, then this blog is the one for you.
